[Some extra paper definitely couldn't hurt, considering he's been writing hecking novels in the rulebook he's been given. With the spare pages being for "notes" instead of "letting this shitty teenager communicate", he's bound to run out of space to write in sooner rather than later. So, honestly? Yuna's gift is about the most touching thing he's received all hecking day.
